Can a Memory Foam Mattress Cure Snoring?
It seems there are rules to follow when your bed partner snores. The nighttime free- for- all involving elbows in the ribs, shoving them until they roll over or out of bed or a pillow planted firmly over the face is not in the rulebook. When you wake up in the morning after snorer kept you awake half the night, you are supposed to be nice to the lip flapper that snored all night. Never mind snorer ruined your night, therefore your day. Never mind you will fall asleep as soon as you get home from work tonight because you are so tired. Now you cannot even attend tonight’s party because your eyes will not stay open. Snorer cannot help it so you must not be irritable. Instead, just wear earplugs. Really? I do not think so!
If said snorer is not aware of their snoring or thinks, you are exaggerating, do whatever you have to do to clarify the gravity of the problem. Voice recordings, video cameras and written statements from other victims are all acceptable. Once you have blown through snorers defenses with your proof, they can sleep in another room, on the couch in the garage-where does not matter. To earn their way back into their own bedroom, they must make every effort to cure the snoring. To begin, snorer can try losing weight, exercising, cutting out smoking, alcohol, caffeine and bedtime pizza. A room humidifier is worth trying as well as nasal clearing techniques. Try sewing a tennis ball into the back of their pajama top so they cannot sleep on their back. Side sleeping cuts back on snoring.
If snorer fails a one-night back-in-the-bedroom test after making the needed lifestyle changes, more extreme measures are needed. Call the doctor. There are devices fitted into the mouth that can open airways and prevent snoring. CPAP machines can blow pressurized air into a facemask and when all else fails, the airway can be opened with surgery. I agree snoring discussions are best when everybody is rested. It is true the snorer is not doing it to be annoying and middle of the night confrontations do not help either partner. However, healthy sleep is important for both of you. Do not be timid about protecting your sleep quality. If your partner snores, be firm about expecting a resolution. If you are the snorer, step up and take responsibility for finding the resolution. Then, everybody wins and everybody gets a good night of sleep.
That being said, a memory foam mattress cannot perform miracles for those who snore. However, for the non-snorer, a comfortable nights sleep on a memory foam mattress is the best we can offer you.
